scents for gents

i've got this theory, and so far it's proving to be true. all hetero identifying males (and a few gay boys i know who try and pass) use either old spice or axe body products. i blame both companies advertising campaigns. they create an illusion that (a) men are only men when they use these products and (b) the smell of men wearing these products drives women crazy. the irony- the guys usually reek of douche bag.

  1. I agree. I hate both scents b/c my dad uses Old Spice and Axe smells like death and the commercials make me want to kill people.

  2. i agree entirely, but think of it from a guys perspective, instead of an educated yuppy that you've become, should i smell like leather "Axe Instinct" or should i smell like an egyptian oil, or ginger or vanilla-nutmeg cinnamon tucan spit herbal by-product essence...I don't necessarily believe that the hetero-male "egotist" that you portray in the writing is buying the product to get laid, its just a matter of an evolving line of soaps and shampoos, no different than the female version- when we were in highschool herbal essences was very popular with the commercials of the girls moaning sexually in the shower, if you compare the two-there is no difference

its just good advertising, its not about whats inside the bottle.
look at the way its packaged
    Axe-dark mysterious packaging
males- attracted to dark colors rather than bright popping colors - i.e. every ad in playboy and maxim is dark, do i want to buy anything from them, hell no, but they sure look cool

herbal essences- bright popping colors with flowers and even peace signs and hearts and other girly things

females love to be bright and noticed

i think you've turned what could just be advertising 101 into a personal vendetta against the hetero male
